Wearing nothing more than a speedo type costume, goggles and a swim cap, South Africa’s extreme swimmers will gather at Marina Martinique on 18 July when they will attempt to swim 7.5 km in water that won’t be warmer than 14 degrees Celsius.
Last year, the King of Robben Island, Theodore Yach took on the challenge and completed the swim,
Yach, with 90 Robben Island crossings under his belt, described the Infood Blu Cold Water Classic as a professional organised swim that tested his endurance in cold water and a must do swim for all extreme swimmers.
There will also be a 2.5 Km and a 5 Km swim on offer, where participants can enter either a non wetsuit or a wetsuit category.
