JEFFREYS BAY, South Africa (Thursday, July 20, 2017) – Competition at the Corona Open J-Bay, stop No. 6 on the 2017 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), has been called on today in clean six-to-eight foot surf (1.8 – 2.4 metre) at Supertubes. Competition will start at 7:35 a.m. local time with Quarterfinal 3 with a possible finish today.

“We have another excellent day of surf on offer today at Jeffreys Bay,” said WSL Commissioner, Kieren Perrow. “We’ve got six-to-eight foot faces again, offshore wind and building swell so we are on and we’re hoping to finish the event today.”

Jordy Smith (ZAF) and Filipe Toledo (BRA) match-up in opening heat of the day followed by Jeep ratings leader Matt Wilkinson (AUS) and fellow Australian Julian Wilson (AUS) Quarterfinal 4.

Surfline, official forecaster for the Corona Open J-Bay, are calling for:

Very solid SW swell will build through the day on Thursday, peaking overnight, before trending down on Friday (although still quite strong through Friday morning). Strong offshore flow on Thursday will give way to much lighter offshore wind on Friday. The surf will drop over the weekend with much smaller leftovers.

The event will be broadcast LIVE via WorldSurfLeague.com, the WSL app and on Facebook LIVE via the WSL’s Facebook page. Also check the local listings for coverage on CBS Sports Network in the U.S., Fox Sports in Australia, ESPN in Brazil, Sky NZ in New Zealand, SFR Sports in France and Portugal and as part of the EDGEsport Network.
