The 2018 event was another massive success, with A-Grade waves pouring down the Supertubes point for the duration of the event. It was once again won by Filipe Toledo from Brazil, who put on a stellar performance in the excellent conditions. He beat Australian rookie Wade Carmichael in the final.
This year was also the first year that the women were invited back since 2000. The Corona Open JBay Women’s event also enjoyed flawless conditions and the best female surfers in the world charged the long walls of Supertubes. This event was won by Stephanie Gilmore, with Lakey Peterson second.
